Ultimately, it’s up to the dolphins how close they want to get and how much they want to interact. We practice what we call “passive observation,” which means — in simple terms — that we let the dolphins come to us. After many years of watching dolphins in their natural habitats, our guides are well-versed in locating them and instructing our guests how to safely enter the water. You will be accompanied by your captain to snorkel alongside starfish, pufferfishes, welch cones, sanddollars and other sea creatures.

Species we frequently see include a variety of starfish, sand dollars, bay scallops, whelks, conchs up to 21” long, seahorses, urchins, and hermit crabs and other crab species. These animals can be brought to the surface, handled carefully, and photographed. We bring large containers so that even non-snorkelers can observe them up close before they’re released back into the bay. Shells found without living creatures can be taken home.

(No more than 6 guests per boat). This will allow for a more intimate, interactive experience and safer trip as you won’t be sharing the boat.

Panama City dolphin tours and Shell Island trips with Panama City Beach Snorkeling & Dolphin Tours LLC are small, private charters, for a maximum of 12 guests (no more than 6 per boat). This not only allows for a much more intimate and interactive experience but also a safer trip since you won’t be sharing the boat with anyone outside your party.

We will be departing Historic Grand Lagoon to take a relaxing, 25-minute trip out to Shell Island, where we'll snorkel. You should be looking out for dolphins or other sea animals as they are in their natural habitats. Our boat will dock in the Gulf of Mexico. Shell Island is the next stop. There you can snorkel, find seashells, learn about the marine life around the area, or simply relax and take in the sunshine. You can also explore the shallows of Shell Island and hunt for shells. After some time spent at Shell Island we will continue our trip to the Gulf of Mexico, where we will search for dolphins. We'll also be stopping to sight-see along this route.

We will take a relaxing 25-minute boat ride out to Shell Island from Historic Grand Lagoon. Be on the lookout to see dolphins and other sea mammals in their natural habitats as we travel. Once we reach the Gulf of Mexico, we will anchor there. Shell Island is where you can snorkel and see the underwater world. You can also learn about the local sea-life or just relax and enjoy the sun while you soak in the sun. To search for shells in the shallow water, you can also go to Shell Island. After exploring Shell Island, we'll take a ride out into the Gulf of Mexico to see dolphins and other sights.
